Inclass repeats
Stripe repeat - created using the marque tool and fill tool to colour. The stripes created were then selected, copied and pasted to created the effect of a repeat.
Symetrical repeat- created by using a downloaded brush tool to create the shape. The shape was then flip on the horizontal access to create the symetry
Regular repeat- created by defining the motif as a pattern on photoshop under the 'Edit' bar. Then in a new document under 'Edit', fill page with the pattern created.
Half Drop repeat- created by splitting to motif in half along its horizontal axis and placing it on the edge of the page. Then copy a whole motif beside it - thus creating a working pattern.

Half Drop
A layout in which the motif is repeated halfway down the side in the vertical direction. The most frequently used repeat in textile design.

Brick
A layout in which every second row is shifted halfway in the horizontal direction.

Spot
A non-directional pattern in which motifs are arranged on a rectangular grid in such a way that each "row" and "column" of the repeated unit contains only one instance of the motif. Additionally, the motifs may be rotated and/or reflected to produce a more uniform pattern.

Diamond

Tossed
